At the resort...

My DD and her GF at the resort. We were going to do a photo shoot at my absolute favorite location but the wind coming off the lake was too strong and cold. A bit later we went out off the resort for a photo shoot. They will be up for tomorrow.
I finally loaded the software onto my laptop so I can share photos while away from the PC.

Celebrating

Last weekend was not only busy with DS's birthday and soccer games it was also our...
our Anniversary! 16 years! This is my wonderful DH above. Our friends, top, had us and other couples over for a steaks on the grill. Steaks, Tequilaberry salad, watermelon, cheesy potatoes, steaks and more. Yumm! A little later in the evening, 3 out of the 5 couples playing Catch Phrase were celebrating an anniversary that weekend.
And about the pictures. The middle guy is one of my dearest friends, Rick. When viewing on the PC, I thought it was distorting him, but here it is on the laptop and he still has a distorted neck and looks like a dwarf....tee hee. Not so in real life.
I am out of town for the holiday weekend at our resort. Beautiful outside but so very cold. brrrr
Maybe only in the 40's.
Anyways with this new program, Hello.com, I can send my pics real easy between the computers. Love that.

Transportation...

...out of town and its not going to be on a bus!
The kids won't be on the bus tomorrow afternoon because we will pick them up around noon to head to the lake for the holiday weekend. So looking forward to getting away for a few days. Forecast is very dismal at best. Cold, rain, wind...so, it doesn't look very pretty but that is so typical for Memorial Day.

Under the lights

and they won!
To play under the lights in soccer is unheard of but here we were at the fields w/a brisk wind in our face.
The coolest thing is that we won!
Yea!
First game of the season and they won.
That's a big deal because my DD was on this team 2 years ago and they only won one game.
Last year she played her age level [this year she is playing a year up which she did a year ago] and they lost all.
So, to win their 1st game was huge!
DD looked good.
I only snapped a few.

again, sooc! life is too crazy right now.

One girlfriend?

Here is another favorite especially because I do very few close ups of things [would this be considered macro?] And leaving one candle lit is quite an undertaking when you are 13 and your girlfriend is there. Am really not liking the backdrop, a friend's shirt, but otherwise am pleased. Any CC for me?
And yes, the pie was yummy. Strawberry cheesecake of sorts. Only complaint was that it was way too small.
Its almost midnight here and can you believe I am just getting home from DD's soccer game. She had a 9:00 game in a town 45 minutes away. Was cool to play under lights but its so late for a school night. Didn't shoot much but hoping for one to share tomorrow. 5th game in as many days.
More sooc.

I have been tagged by Trisha.
My first tag.
5 things about why I blog.
1. The best part is it has taken me out of my comfort zone to get shots I wouldn't have taken previously.
2. It makes me want to learn photography. Operative word is want because my books are gathering dust. Its going to happen if I keep hanging around.
3. I like being awed by all the great talent here.
4. Its great to be a part of this group and get to know people. Almost like getting to stand in the doorway and catching glimpses of their life.
5. I like the writing aspect.
I am tagging 5 other POTDer's

After the Smoke Clears

I was looking at the oodles of pictures I took yesterday and the oodles that the kids took and the smoke from the candles caught my eye. I guess 13 candles creates a lot of fire, thus smoke.
Plus a new teen should get 2 posts to celebrate, right?
I really want to quit being such a slug and "fix" the soccer pictures below but life is so hectic that I am doing good just getting the pictures up.
So, again, very sooc!

Here we are again.
Another soccer game.
One Friday
One Saturday.
And then today on my DS's bday! He is 13! A teen!

He is in the blue and was able to get it and turn it.
Its his first year on a competitive team and he is really doing awesome~!
Tomorrow will be another soccer game for him.
And Tuesday night will be his sister's 1st game of the season.
So, yes it's hopping here.
I've been taking pictures and have a few to share but just haven't been able to get them uploaded.
{really should be tweeking these but I am tired from a busy weekend}

Another Thing I Cherish

My faith.
This is not my church but one we passed on the freeway.
I've got a thing with churches
and
old barns.
And I do cherish my relationship with my Savior!

On Theme?

I think I am on theme. Things that we are sentimental about?
That would certainly be my DS who is just a few days shy of becoming a teenager.
I decided to feature him today after our disastrous evening yesterday.
We were all geared up for photo ops w/his sister before the game and then he wanted lots of shots of his soccer game. Well, it didn't quite work out that way. We dropped him off at the fields early and decided to get gas first where we discovered 2 low tires. Not a big deal, right? Just add some air and carry on.
That particular gas station didn't have air so we went to another gas station, still no air so we went to a 'tire store. By now the tires were hissing and basically flat. Crazy. So let's fix them. Oh no, we need new tires. By now I am so stressed because we aren't at the soccer fields and my DS has no clue where we are. I have no phone numbers. Once they sell me tires - why do I feel like there was no way they would fix my tires when they could sell me new ones? Grrr.
They do drive me to the soccer fields and I tell them I will get a ride back. They are in conversation w/my DH this whole time. We get back right before 9. DD's BF noticed the sign said they closed at 8 - we only left at 7:40. Sure enough they are closed. What? They knew we were coming back. I don't get it. Luckily, we got a ride home from one of the soccer moms.
So, my vehicle with camera is still there.
Evidently I drove over something because both the passenger tires went flat. Been a long, long time since I have had a break down and I don't want to be there again any time soon.
So that is why today is for my DS because there were no soccer pictures. Luckily this was the 1st game of the season.

Happy Mother's Day!

This is Spec, short for Spectacle, my brother's family dog. He's a real cutie, but super old.

This is my Mom! We were able to get together for a BBQ today and had fabulous weather and good company.

This in my Stepdad, Fran. I like the capture on this one because it really captures who he is.

In recognition of our Fishin' Opener

OOPS!
I forgot the flash.
Because of POTD, I made myself walk to the docks to capture the campers fishing.
These are some awesome shots [just sharing this one because they are all so dark] but whoa, they are dark. Dang!
Anyway of fixing them?
Played a bit in PSE5.0 but I don't know.

Saturday Pictures

My DD was most excited about the shopping once we got things set up at camp.
She didn't mind stopping to get pics for POTD.

I love this old church we pass every time we go, once we get off the freeway and take the backroads. I love it. Before POTD I would never have dreamed of stopping for a picture but here we are. My DD is always willing to participate.
My attempt at creativity!
From here we hit the Outlet Mall and both of us bought a bunch of summer clothes so we say, 'Bring on summer!'
All sooc

Friday's Pictures

On Friday we headed to the lake for the 1st time this season.
This is my DS in the back seat reading. He loves books and is an avid reader.
We are seasonal campers which means our camper stays there and is always set up, ready to go, kind of like the poor man's camper. We like to go every other weekend once Memorial comes but as the kids get older its harder and harder to get away.
I call it suburban camping as there are a lot of people, we have a full size fridge, microwave, shower, 2 TV's plus a gaming TV, internet service and more.

We were concerned about rush hour traffic going through the city but it wasn't too bad. Couple rough spots, but quite mild compared to some weekends. [I believe our Fishin' Opener had a lot of people going north versus south like us.] I kept busy reading the new CK magazine and looking for photo ops.

Crab Apple Tree on a Sunny Day

Isn't she a beauty? I love our tree when it is in bloom like this. It doesn't really produce anything resembling an edible apple. My attempt at creativity. I think I was more concerned with high tailing it to golf league.
The other beauty in my life.
Lots not working here on this shot, but today that is ok
Also, note the twisted trunk - that is what gives the tree its fullness. One of the perks of having a Dh in the landscaping industry.

When the Fog Comes Marching In

I didn't realize that weather would be right in my backyard [golf course] but there is was - the fog rolling in. It was really cool but I am not sure my shots captured it very well. TFS

Macro Monday?

I believe it is Macro Monday and possibly this fits the bill even though I don't participate.
Its been one of those days that looks like rain and had an omnipresent feel to it. The colors were so vibrant and the greens incredible. It finally rained a bit in the early evening. I went outside to capture our apple tree but got this instead. Very sooc.
I have a question. I have the Quantaray 70-300 lens which has a toggle switch between normal and macro. Problem is I can't get it to move. Any ideas?

Where have I been?

Doing this! A lot of this. What is this? This is getting ready for an upcoming garage sale which means a lot of decluttering of the storage are which is huge!
In these photos we are sorting through all the miniature doll house accessories. Its all really cute stuff but my DD isn't interested in playing with it anymore or doing it on a serious basis so out if goes. She had gotten it from her grandmother and there was no rhyme or reason to the many, many boxes.
Mixed emotions about letting it go but there is way too much stuff and the actual house is monster sized and is literally falling apart.
So, this week I have really let my POTD slide while I concentrate on getting a huge task that I have been putting off way too long.
These pictures are from Fri. nite when my GF, Diane, my DD and I sorted accessories and furniture. I grabbed the camera w/the 70-300mm lens. Oops. Nothing fantastic but when I am on a mission I best stay there. Ha!
