Pretty Girl

One of my most favorite photo subjects! This was taken after sunset on our deck overlooking the golf course. As far as settings I am still in auto mode...tho, this was done in portrait mode.
Flash used...need to learn more about flash fill.
I can see where cropping might enhance the photo...TFL

Nice portrait! I think the composition is pretty good without any cropping, but it's always fun to play with it too. Keep up the good work!

Lovely subject; especially against the dark sky. Well done.

good capture. your dd looks pretty relaxed and the flash doesn't look harsh at all.
i don't know what lens/camera you're using but if you want to try to shoot in manual mode (start with AV or TV) then you'd need to find out what lens you have (f/1.8, f/3.5-5.6, etc) to determine the situations where you'll be able to shoot at.
as far as the cropping, i'd suggest to leave it alone, i've read somewhere to leave space in the direction the subject is facing to allow for better composition (kind of us trying to find out what she's looking at). hope this helps. keep up the good work! and shoot away, remember it's only digital!
