I had to make an impromptu trip to Mpls. today to pick up one of our workers. I ended up taking a wrong turn which is how I got this shot. This is the Catholic Cathedral which is an awesome building. This is what I got from the stoplight. When I first looked at it I was happy with the results. Now that I have it on my computer I see that there is definitely some shake on the steeple. I cropped slightly in pse5.0 to take out the street. I also played with the color - not sure what I am doing, but I was able to bring out the green in the steeple and the green roofs but also might have added that same tone to the sky. What do you think? What is one of the first things you do with a photo as far as enhancing it?
I was so pumped because there were so many photo opportunities everywhere I looked. It was like a photographer's candy store. But being on a mission, I went and got our worker but had the bright idea to let him drive so I could snap away. Well, he made it right out to the freeway without even a bit of a pause. Once there, the traffic was heavy and I was watching the road as he maneuvered around. I've become such a Nervous Nelly! I should ahve gone with my original thought which was to have him drive around the block so I could have gotten a brownstone.

Girl, you're funny! And this is a good shot...Especially since you did it while at a stop light. Great job :D
The first thing I do after opening a pic is to run a USM on it (Unsharp Mask) at the following settings (20/25/0) in order to remove some of the haze/fog. I would use a noise remover first but I don't have one yet :( Then I play with levels/curves and saturation and done. If I feel especially artsy-fartsy, then I'd go ahead and try a few actions and such... and while I'd like to say that I bring out the eyes...I never do...and I hear we must...just haven't gotten around to figuring that part out yet...
TFS!
Considering you were @ a stoplight I think you did a great job ~ wish I lived where I wanted to take pics of everything I see!
looks pretty darn good for a stop light shot! great job!
Wow! You're quick! I would have never gotten this at a stoplight haha- And I see the green in the rooves, but I don't see that it carried out into the sky. And the first things I do to a picture is crop, USM and/or Noise reduction (I use the free program Noiseware), and then I go for levels if I need to.
Great Shot!
Great shot especially since you were in the car! Gorgeous building.
Well done, Kathy! I'm with the other peas--I do a defog first using about the same settings as Cristina. I only use noiseware when I feel the pic needs it and I use it before the defog. Then, I do levels or curves or increase saturation--just whatever I think it needs. I'm glad you were able to catch this pic--even from the car. congrats!
Most excellent drive by shooting :) I am jealous that you get to take those pics while doing regular old errands :)
Wow what a gorgeous steeple! I love how you were able to capture the whole building! Cristina gave you some great advice! I would also try to brighten this photo a bit, but that's just a personal opinion. Great job!
terrific job for sitting at a stop light!! lol.
I've been known to pull my camera out WHILE driving. Makes my dh CRAZY!!
Good Job! :)
